SexZ Pictures Begins Production on Eli Cross’ Upload
HOLLYWOOD - SexZ Pictures and director Eli Cross will begin a 22-day shooting schedule on Tuesday for the company's latest big-budget effort, Upload. After nearly a year of planning, Cross has the benefit of a $350,000 budget to follow up SexZ's 2007 AVN Best Video Feature award winner, Corruption.
"I've been sitting on this script in a smaller form for about four years," Cross told AVN.com. "We wanted to go as different as we could from Corruption...we're shooting the sequel next year, but for this one, we wanted the opposite. Corruption was more character-driven and this movie will be more plot-driven…it's about as close as you can get to an action movie in a porno. Also, Corruption is very heavy and dark, and Upload has what I think is a happy ending…only one person dies, and I think she wanted to die," he laughed.
Cross said that the expectations of a project this size have made him both terrified and incredibly excited. "It's the biggest thing we've ever done," continued Cross, who also co-wrote the screenplay for Upload with writing collaborator Alvin Edwards. "Once again, Bo Kenney has given us all the tools and freedom to do the kinds of things people never get to do in adult. We've got a great story and the kind of incredibly hard, nasty sex we're known for. As long as I don't fuck this up, we're going to have an absolutely stunning final product."
Set in the near future, Upload tells the story of two federal agents tracking down a hacker they believe carries a dangerous computer virus. The movie stars SexZ Pictures contract star Hillary Scott as Tesla, as a sexy cyberpunk and Eva Angelina as Cassandra Cray, as an agent who's chasing the secret Tesla holds. Derrick Pierce co-stars as Michael Born, Cassandra's partner.
"Upload is…even bigger than Corruption, so we're really excited as to what the final project will look like. This is a magnificent story and I have all the faith in the world that my team will once again rise to the occasion of excellence," said SexZ Pictures' CEO Bo Kenney.
Upload also features a special appearance by adult legend Ginger Lynn, who will be coming out of retirement just long enough to administer a brutal body cavity search to Hillary Scott.
"I'm absolutely thrilled with my cast," continued Prior. "I've got my not-so-secret weapon with Hillary, who's not only a fantastic actor and sex performer, she's the [AVN] Female Performer of the Year. Then I've got Eva Angelina who's gorgeous, sexy, a talented actor, and she's anxious to get nasty on camera for us in a way her fans have never seen.
"Everyone in the cast and crew is extremely excited and committed to Upload. Bo and I are really big on wanting the team effort for these big shows. It's a hell of a lot of work and it helps when everyone involved is invested in creating the best movie we possibly can."

Ireland wants to welcome all aspiring female directors, even if they lack experience. She said that she and the other directors at SlutWerkz would be willing to “hold a girl’s hand” if she showed enough motivation to direct a movie.
So far she’s secured a few other women to direct for her company: Ginger Lynn, Katja Kassin and Julie Night. Night was on set for Submitted shooting behind-the-scenes footage for the DVD.
Night’s first movie for SlutWerkz will be a triple-X adaptation of the 1928 novella Story of the Eye, by George Bataille. Night told XFANZ she plans to change the title of her adult adaptation to Story of Ass, but based on a look at the book’s description, she may not need to porn it up at all:
“[A] legendary shocker that uncovers the dark side of the erotic by means of forbidden obsessive fantasies of excess and sexual extremes. A classic of pornographic literature, Story of the Eye finds the parallels in Sade and Nietzsche and in the investigations of contemporary psychology; it also forecasts Bataille's own theories of ecstasy, death and transgression that he developed in later work.”
Yep, that sounds like potential SlutWerkz fare.
Although Night’s adaptation won’t come out until August, she was already taking mental notes on Ireland’s set. While Ireland directed Eli Cross to smack submissive, leggy blond Kelly Wells in the face before stuffing an onyx-black buttplug inside her, Night and Ireland hunched over a monitor set up in the upstairs study of Cross and Ireland’s apartment. When glare on a framed picture lights ruins a shot, Ireland calls for a cup to prop the picture forward.
“Use the butt plug,” Night said, catching Ireland’s laugh for the DVD. Ireland waited for a grip to prop a cup behind the picture, then spoke again.
"There are a lot of girls with a lot of great ideas," Ireland said. "And some of them are nasty, ballsy and beautiful. I want their visions to come true."

LOS ANGELES — Kylie Ireland has a simple strategy for coming up with movie ideas: First, she finds legitimate BDSM enthusiasts. No one in Ireland’s movies gets dominated (or dominates) for a mere paycheck -- everyone on set must be having a great time. Second, she asks a few simple questions.
“When I ask girls to work for me, I find out what their fantasies are, and we do them,” Ireland said. “It’s like getting to play God.”
Ireland’s God-play usually translates to slightly longer shoots, but she can easily defray the cost by using her home as a location.
Turning fantasies into reality also means adult content that’s not for everyone. One of Ireland’s pre-Slutwerkz titles includes a scene where two hulking figures drag a screaming woman into a nameless garage in a burlap sack. In another title, a woman arrives in a suitcase. Still another title, this one for SlutWerkz, shows two insane asylum orderlies taking advantage of a patient in a straitjacket.
“Fetish shoots usually take longer,” Ireland said. “There's a lot more to worry about -- a lot more stuff: toys, costumes. I think our fans would notice if we cut corners, and I'm a perfectionist anyway.”
But there’s more to worry about in an Ireland-caliber fetish shoot besides the trappings of domination. Although everyone is having a great, consensual time off camera, the theme of nonconsensuality on camera is not taboo in an Ireland title, and that has prompted Ireland to omit certain hardcore acts from the American DVD releases of her movies like fisting and urination. Performers who get tied up in SlutWerkz titles will remain tied up for their sex scenes, and every bit of mayhem, including scenes where performers spit urine on each other, will be shown unadulterated in the European DVD releases and on the upcoming SlutWerkz VOD website, SlutzWerkz.com.

In part three of an ongoing series, Kylie Ireland talks about the frustrations that led her to start her new production company, SlutWerkz. On set, Ireland wore camouflage pants, a black T-shirt and a bandana. She lives with Corruption director Eli Cross, whose influence on the apartment includes much of the bondage apparatus -- he’s the dominant one -- and most of their DVD collection, which includes Dr. Who, Danger Mouse, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and loads of great episodic TV like Deadwood, Six Feet Under and The X-Files. Their bookshelf features popular authors like Stephen King and Dean Koontz alongside headier fare like John Irving and Umberto Eco.
Ireland herself is a curvy redhead with a face for romantic comedies and a goofy sense of humor. She likes Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek -- also found on that extensive DVD shelf -- and she speaks with a light, chatty cadence that makes you feel like you’re getting a manicure-pedicure in the back of an S&M club.
In performance, Ireland throws herself into her movies helter-skelter, often donning bondage gear and having her mouth splayed open with dental apparatus to accommodate the appendages and devices shoved there. The very unexpectedness of Ireland’s presence in such hardcore movies only adds to their kink value. It’s like watching Helen Hunt get gangbanged or Debra Messing take a DP.
But regardless of Ireland’s good looks, her previous employers always balked at letting her show her the full extent of her fantasies.
"I was frustrated working at other companies," she said. "There were so many rules and regulations, and I was tired of playing by them. Like, if I shot a scene where we tied up a girl and fucked her, we'd have to untie the girl before we did the sex, when that was the point of the entire scene."
With that frustration in mind, Ireland launched SlutWerkz not only for herself, but also for any woman in the business serious about making movies, regardless of how intense their movies may be.
"Not all of our movies have to be super-freaky," Ireland said, but she added that SlutWerkz movies will absolutely be for men. Cuddly, soft-focus porn likely won't find a home at SlutWerkz.

LOS ANGELES — Kylie Ireland doesn’t need no stinking rules.
On the set of her first project as director for her new production company, SlutWerkz, Ireland told XFANZ that she wants to use rule-breaking to help aspiring female directors of all stripes break one of the adult industry’s silent rules: Only men really direct porn.
To be sure, plenty of women have moved behind the camera with success, but Ireland said that in many cases, the women are merely figureheads -- hot babes who sell a bunch of DVDs whether their picture is on the cover or their name is above the title.
Ireland will brook none of that nonsense at SlutWerkz, where she promises to provide hardcore action made by women for men, with the emphasis on “by women.”
"They need to know and own their ideas, and they have to have a vision," Ireland said. "But the most important thing is that the girl has to direct it. It can't be a 'me and my boyfriend' thing. The girl will do all the work." That work will include having a hand in the casting and editing of their movies, as well as helping promote the titles with signings and appearances. In addition, most directors will perform in their own movies.
But what rules will Ireland break?
First, she’ll break the rules that spurred her to start SlutWerkz in the first place. Ireland’s movies are demolition derbies of domination, submission, latex, chains, buttplugs, fisting and forceps. Ireland’s own home is a BDSM gymnasium with a swanky loft apartment at its periphery. A former warehouse located in a part of downtown Los Angeles that gets dodgier as the sun sets, its interior is filled with exposed wood columns dotted with hook-holds for chains. A red medical chair sits next to a rack full of bondage whips, paddles, masks and gloves. Upon further examination, the red chair also includes a smaller bench where a partner can easily perform cunnilingus. A good portion of that gear should make it into this first SlutWerkz title, Submitted for Your Approval.

Note from Kylie: This section of the story makes it seem like I wll only be shooting bondage and fetish themed titles but I assure you it's not true I have other lines planned for my movies (as a director) including an anal series, a series featuring tattooed girls and many others. For my first release, 'Submitted for You Approval' I just went with the traditionally taboo bondage/fetish genre since I enjoy it, it will have some shock value and I enjoyed making 'Twisted as Fuck' (DVSX) so I thought I would do something similar - only 'Submitted' is a much harder movie than 'Twisted' ever was (due to the fact that DVSX made me cut alot of great nasty footage!)

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Katja Kassin is asking a few good people for one good name.
The tall German brunette just finished directing her first title for Kylie Ireland's woman-power fuck-factory SlutWerkz.com, and she's started a thread over on the popular adult message board Adult DVD Talk that asks fans to name her movie. (So far Kassin's Assassins is in the lead.)
But Kassin's first title for SlutWerkz also marks her first time behind the camera, and as a new female director, Kassin applauds Ireland's new company.
"It's still an industry dominated by men," she told XFANZ. Ireland and other women around the industry back up that notion, which is one of the reasons why Ireland started SlutWerkz.
Another key reason was, of course, to let women like Kassin make steamy adult movies that would appeal to men. For Ireland and Kassin, that means making intense movies that leave no orifice un-plumbed.
"It's a fairy tale that girls only like to watch softcore," she said. "Kylie told me, 'You can do anything you want.'"
Ireland herself told XFANZ that if a prospective female director approached SlutWerkz with a pitch for a soft-focus piece of huggy, couples-friendly porn, Ireland would politely decline.
But hard hitters like Kassin will always be welcome at SlutWerkz.
"My movie is anal," she said. "It's all anal. All the girls do anal, and there are two DPs, including me. It's not a softcore movie. I can relate to it -- it's the kind of movie that people would expect from me."
Certainly Ireland expected anal-centric action from Kassin, who worked with the understanding that a helping hand would only be a phone call away. It turned out, though, that Kassin didn't need much help.
"Oh sure, I ran into the usual obstacles," she said. "Some people didn't show up, some people got there late, but we got it done."
Despite the female-friendly atmosphere at SlutWerkz, however, Kassin said she wouldn't want to work in an adult industry run entirely by women.
"There would be way more bitching and competition," she said. "It would be more like a bitch-fight. In every domain, it's always good to have a balance between women and men."
