08/28/2008: "Simon Pegg knows who I am."
Sometimes strange things happen to me. Things that throw me for a loop. Things that totally make my day.
Today my good friend Big Dick Hunter, who is one of the most intelligent, fun, radio hosts I know (and cute too) sent me an email. He emailed to let me know he was doing an interview with Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) about his new movie How to Lose Friends and Alienate People. Knowing that Simon had a part in one of the Doctor Who episodes (2005 Doctor Who episode "The Long Game”) Big Dick Hunter asked me if I had any brilliant geeky questions to ask Simon. Of course I do. (With a little help from Eli.) Below is my email to Big Dick with the questions.

Oh my god I am so fucking jealous! I adore him. Tell him there is a porn star in LA that wants to.....oh, nevermind. ;) I am sure the line forms to the left.
Ask him if he can still recite the full name of the Jagrafess.
Which new Doctor is his favorite - Christopher Eccleston or David Tennant? As a child I am sure he grew up watching Doctor Who...did he hide behind the couch when the Daleks came on the telly?
And I need to know if there is going to be a season three of Spaced.
Don't ask about Star Trek or Mission Impossible 3. Unless you have to. The geek world has no hope for the new Star Trek.
And if all else recite Shaun of the Dead at him. "There is no "I" in team...." ....no, on second thought, you’d better not.
I want your job!!!
I know you are crazy busy...hopefully we can talk soon.

At 1:02 pm I received a text from Big Dick:
"He took your email and answered all of your questions on tape! I will email you the mp3 he knows who you are btw."
At 1:07 I get this one:
"He told me that you have inspired him to commission a Tshirt that reads “porn stars can be geeks too”
Brilliant. That all totally made my day. I am smiling from ear to ear.
Then at 6:20 comes an email with the mp3 of the interview and this note from Big Dick:
"Here is the interview with the outtakes included at the end. You can hear him take my iPhone and read your email, responding to your questions along the way."
And he did. (In that fabulous accent) It was really cool. Big Dick handed Simon his iPhone and on the recording you can hear Simon reading my email, commenting and answering my questions.
• Simon Pegg knows who I am.
• David Tennant is his favorite new Doctor. “Much more fun, like Tom Baker” he said.
• (And joking) “And tell her Star Trek is going to be brilliant.“
• “You must say hi to her for me…”

Yup, I went all fangirl. Sheesh. But there are moments like that when I am just floored that famous people know who I am. Cause, oh, I don’t know, I am just so…me. It’s pretty neat to have a moment like that. It’s also pretty great to have friends that will do stuff like that for you. Thank you Richard.
