11/09/2005: "Snatch cancelled"
So yesterday was supposed to be the first of a 3 day shoot titled “Snatch” for Adam & Eve. Starring Austyn Moore, directed by Eli Cross. What happened? Well it’s more of a case of what didn’t happen, really.
Thing That Didn’t Happen #1: Sativa Rose’s test didn’t make it back from AIM Heathcare on time. Not Sativa’s fault but this makes it difficult to shoot a sex scene when one of the performers has no new test. Tests are REQUIRED, monthly, no exceptions. Options: Rebook a different girl at the last minute that must be okayed through Austyn and Adam & Eve, or…
Thing That Didn’t Happen #2: The male lead, Trent T., doesn’t show up. Being that this is a feature and the male lead is needed all three days…well, this is a problem, as you can see. His agent couldn’t contact him either. Yeah, just try replacing a male lead (one who has to be able to act, BTW) at the last minute. Nope, not a chance.
A further dilemma related to the Thing That Didn’t Happen #2: We booked Trent T. as the lead through one of the agents, upon booking we asked them repeatedly to make sure this was not Trent Tesoro, because having shot him before, we have a strict non-Trent Tesoro policy. So not only does “Trent T.” not show up for his 10 am call time but when he does come waltzing in at 11:30 we discover it is EXACTLY the guy we were assured we WEREN’T getting. Fortunately for us we wouldn’t have to use Trent in the lead anymore.
Thing That Didn’t Happen #3: The shoot. Cancelled and re-booked. It’s now the 16, 17 and 18th.
Every now and the directors get a shoot like this where you just throw up your hands and cancel it. Sure you can try to force it to go through but that usually means more problems and results in not as good of an end result. Prior to yesterday we had been having location trouble and a few other things that were beginning to point to this being “one of those shoots”.
So you know what we did, now that we had the afternoon off? We went to Disneyland.
Next week is going to be completely insane now. I am directing for Platinum X on the 14th and 15th, Eli’s Adam & Eve movie is the 16-18. And I leave to go to New York for a club promotion on the 18th. (More details to come on the NY event.)
