07/16/2005: "48 hr Film Festival"

So Eli and our lighting guy Hollywood entered into the San Diego 48 hour film festival. Last night at 7 pm Hollywood picked up the assignment in SD, each group entered draws the elements of their short film - what genre, a character, an object and a phrase - what you do with them is up to you. The short has to be between 5-7 minutes long. Our team drew Mockumentary, M. Munchley the computer processor, a shaker of salt and the phrase "Location, location, location".

Eli was up all night working on a script and everyone met this morning to start shooting. Hollywood has an 'in' to shoot at the abondoned Examiner/Herald building here in LA so that's where they are right now. I am heading over in a few minutes to play a role in the story. We should be done shooting this evening (at the latest) and then the editing process begins. Our friend and fellow director Ren Savant will be doing the editing on this one, especially since Eli's editing system crashed hard the other day. Tomorrow by 2-ish Hollywood hops on the train back to San Diego to turn it in for judging. Wednesday evening we all are heading down to watch what everyone came up with.

These things are always kinda fun to do, we did a 24 hour one about a year ago here in LA and placed 2nd. It's pretty cool to sit in the theater and watch the short film you made on a big screen.
