05/10/2005: "Not going to England for movie"

We'll just say things didn't work out. The fact that they bumped the shoot FORWARD 2 weeks certainly made it difficult scheduling-wise but the clincher was that the didn't tell me that the amount of $$ I would be getting was 1/4 as much as the original amount quoted. Now many of you should know that it's not all about the money for me but my time is worth something and being away from home for 17 days (that's over 2 weeks!) is a long time to be gone for so little compensation. Plus with the Vivid movie coming up and a few other projects I would have had to give up as well I would have actually LOST money going over there.

The movie took place mostly outside in the woods and since I would have been playing a stripper (gasp! Imagaine that!) I would have been naked and freezing my ass off every night in the woods of England. For 17 nights, at about $150 per day. I believe American SAG rates for nude roles are nearly $800 per day, if that gives you some comparison. Oh and I was there for 17 days but only getting paid for one week (shooting every other day or something).

The producer tried to give me the speil about how good it would be for my mainstream career and all, but being that I have no aspirations to become a mainstream actress that wasn't a concern to me either. If an "legit" acting gig falls in my lap I will of course take it but mainstream isn't something I actively pursue.

Really there was a huge lack of information and it was very frustrating that everything was last minute. But I am often willing to bend over backward for a cool project if people try to work with me a little. I realize that low-budget mainstream movies are often kind of a clusterfuck - Bryn used to direct for Roger Corman; you should hear those stories!

I am sad to miss the experience, because the way I look at it - good or bad - it would be a life experience, a story to tell and memories. If it still was starring William Shatner and Sandra Bernhard that would have been cool too (not that I even heard if they were still involved at this point).

Ah well, I guess it just wasn't meant to be this time.
